DIY magnetic brush

Just a super device for quickly cleaning the workplace. We drilled, sawed, ran a magnetic brush and in a couple of seconds removed the metal shavings in one motion. A very convenient and necessary thing. Collects the smallest granules, which is so difficult to achieve when cleaning with a regular brush.
Such a miracle is made in no time. There are no scarce materials; all parts are available in any craftsman’s workshop.

Will need

  • Round magnet from the dynamic head.
  • Chipboard or fiberboard, or any other sheet of thick wood material more than 8 mm thick.
  • A sheet of thin veneer or plastic.
  • Door handle.
  • A pair of self-tapping screws.
  • PVA glue.
  • Universal glue.
  • Small nails.
  • Wooden slats.

Making a magnetic brush with your own hands

The first thing you need to do is find a magnet. Its shape does not have to be round. I had an old speaker lying around from which I pulled out this round magnet. According to its dimensions, I cut out a rectangle with a width allowance of about 5-8 mm on the side. And it is 2-3 cm longer in length.

Next, take the strip and beat the magnet onto a rectangle. You can use PVA glue for this or small nails. I used both methods to be safe.

The round magnet is tacked tightly, closer to one side of the rectangle.

On the opposite side there should be a movable rail that will move. We try it on and adjust it to size.

Next, we cut out a cover from thin veneer or plastic to the size of the existing rectangle, 5-8 mm longer.

We glue the moving part to it using PVA glue.

We glue the magnet with universal glue into the box.

Install the lid and use thin nails to knock it down from the sides. It turns out to be a kind of hinge at which the lid opens.

We glue a strip to the extension of the lid, which will be used as a handle for opening the box.

The result is a unique box with a magnet inside that can open like this:

Let's turn it over, bottom view:

Let's turn it over again and screw the door handle onto the screws on top, which we will use to hold the brush at the time of use.

The magnetic brush is ready for use.
Let's try to collect the scattered nails.

The magnet is good, the lifting force is normal.

Once you open the bottom cover, all the nails obediently fall down.

That's how it works.

Cleaning up the workplace

So, we conduct tests directly on the front line, we clean the workplace.

I sincerely recommend making you a similar brush for your workshop. Because with its help you can not only remove metal filings, but also collect the necessary parts, such as nuts, screws, screws, etc.
