Welding turned round welded hinges for gates and steel doors has some specifics. If they are fixed skewed, the gate or door leaf will not be able to be removed, it will creak and open poorly. To avoid this, you should weld the hinges taking into account several recommendations. They are applicable if it is possible to lay the door leaf and its frame or post horizontally.

Materials:

  • old welding electrode or rod d 3-4 mm;
  • loops;
  • embedded sheet steel with a cross section of 4-5 mm.

Welding hinges

You need to bend a conductor from an electrode or a thin rod for the correct and equal positioning of the loops. It is folded in half, then its edge on the bend side is bent at a right angle.

The hinge is placed on the door frame or post and aligned with the edge of the door. A conductor is placed under it so that it is raised. It should not cover part of the door. In this case, when further installing the MDF overlay, it will not have to be trimmed. Then, by welding from the end side, the loop is tacked to the box or post.Afterwards, the conductor is removed, and the second loop is tacked in a similar way.

Before final welding, the alignment of the loops is equalized. To do this, take a rule or a flat profile pipe and apply it to it first from above, then from the side. The ruler should be adjacent to the loops along the entire plane. If there is a gap, then this indicates a misalignment. In this case, the raised or skewed loop must be bent with hammer blows. This is a very important point, since the ease of further opening depends on it.

Having set the alignment, you need to tack the embedded parts. They are placed on the door leaf so as to rest against the hinge. First, the mortgages are secured to the door so that they do not bend. After this, they are already scalded with a continuous seam in a circle, including at the junction with the loop. Then the part of the loop is securely welded and attached to the box or pole. Having finished welding on the front side, you need to open the door leaf and weld everything from the inside, but so that welding deposits do not interfere with closing.

Using this method, you can fasten the loops coaxially. Moreover, if the door leaf is welded, it will be possible to align it with an ideal gap relative to the frame so that everything looks neat and nothing rubs when closing. This arrangement of the hinges allows you to further cover the steel door with MDF overlay without cutting it.
