How to make a device for removing weeds by the root

Weeds with large stems and deep root systems are very difficult to remove manually. To do this, it is better to use a shovel or a special homemade tool. Unlike a shovel, their work is much easier and does not strain the spine at all. When planning to clean up an area overgrown with weeds, it is worth making such a liquidator in order to finish the clearing faster and not rip your back off.

Materials:

• reinforcement 10 mm;
  
• M20 nut with fine thread;
  
• steel pipes 18 mm, 25 mm;
  
• compression spring.

Weed killer manufacturing process

To make a liquidator fork, you need to prepare 3 pieces of reinforcement 75 mm long. On one side they are sharpened for a peak, then their ribbing is ground down between the seams. You need to get smooth bayonets with an elliptical cross-section. This shape provides low resistance when pressed into the ground, while maintaining sufficient strength and rigidity to prevent bending.


The prepared machined teeth are welded to the M20 nut. They are cooked through one edge to maintain symmetry.


Then an 18 mm tube is inserted into the nut and welded.Its length is selected so that in a vertical position the instrument is located slightly above the lower back. The result is a harpoon. A 50 mm section of the same tube is welded to the nut at a right angle relative to the first pipe. It will be used as a stop for pressing the tool into the ground with your foot.


On the tooth side, a washer with an internal diameter equal to the pusher rod used is welded to the nut. A 25 mm pipe knob is welded across the upper end of the rod. You need to cut or drill the walls in it to open the end of the rod.
A pusher for cleaning the tool is made from a 6-10 mm rod. Its length should be 100 mm longer than the 18 mm pipe. On one side of it, a washer is welded to the end. The pusher is then inserted into the rod from the trident side.


A spring is placed on top of the pusher protruding above the knob. Then the fungus tip is fixed to its free edge. This could be a gear shift knob, a steering wheel handle, or something similar.





To use the tool, you need to place it at the base of the weed, so that the stem is located between the teeth. Then the liquidator is immersed in the ground by pressing his boot on the horizontal tube. A few turns are made with the crank and the tool is removed. A weed stem with roots will remain between the teeth. When you press the fungus with your hand, the pusher will release it.
