Spark plugs wear out over time. In particular, the central electrode gradually burns out, through which it is necessary to periodically adjust the gap using a feeler gauge. At first, this partially solves the problem. Using this advice, you can improve the performance of even severely worn spark plugs.
What you will need:
drill with a thin cutting disc;
sandpaper P400;
feeler gauge for adjusting gaps;
gas-burner;
bleach with chlorine or Dimexide.
Spark plug refining process
It is necessary to bend the side electrode of the spark plug and make a longitudinal cut on it with a drill. You should try to make the cut exactly in the center. The result will be something similar to more advanced modern spark plugs with two or three side electrodes.
After this, you need to clean the candles. Depending on the degree of contamination, it is enough to simply burn them with a gas burner, or also hold them in a solvent to remove coking. You can use bleach or pharmaceutical Dimexide. After cleaning, the electrodes should be sanded with P400 sandpaper.
Before installation, all that remains is to adjust the gap on the spark plugs.Due to the appearance of sharp corners on the electrodes, the spark will strike better.
An engine with such spark plugs starts easier and runs more stable, almost like new ones.
