It is most convenient to perform soldering with flux in the form of a gel. But not all such purchased compositions can prevent oxidation of contacts, like rosin. If you want to combine the convenience of flux and the reliability of rosin, then prepare it using it yourself.
Materials:
- rosin;
- gasoline B-70 (galoshes);
- pharmaceutical Vaseline.
Flux manufacturing process
To prepare the flux, you need to crush rosin into powder. It is convenient to do this by placing a piece of it in a tight bag and crushing it with any hard object.
The powder is poured into a jar, and gasoline B-70 solvent is added to it. You need to pour a little at a time so that the flux turns out to be a gel consistency and not a liquid. The composition must be mixed for 5-10 minutes until the powder is completely dissolved.
Next, Vaseline is added to the gel in equal quantities with rosin.
After mixing, the composition may become a little thinner than necessary. In this case, you can simply cover the jar with it from dust and let it dry for a couple of days.
The excess gasoline will evaporate and the flux will take on a gel consistency. It is important not to dry it out. It is stored in a closed container without thickening.
To use the gel, it is most convenient to draw it into a syringe with a sawed-off needle.
