Freezing green onions does not take much time and effort, but in winter you can easily and quickly prepare soup, casserole or omelet. Thawed onions will retain their taste and freshness, but will be softer than fresh ones and it is better to add them not to salads, but to use them for first and second courses.

To freeze onions you will need:

  • Green onion feathers.
  • disposable containers with a volume of 250 ml.
  • cling film.
  • freezer bags.

Step-by-step instructions for freezing onions with photos:

1. We sort out the onions, leaving only elastic, juicy feathers without dried tips.

2. Wash the greens under running water and remove the remaining moisture through a sieve.

3. Dry the feathers with a cloth towel and cut into small rings.

4. Distribute the greens in an even layer on a tray or baking sheet and place in the freezer for an hour. If the greens are dry, you can skip this step.

5. Then put the chopped greens into disposable containers.

6. You can place green onions in freezer bags.

7.Also wrap in small portions for one-time use in cling film.

8. Place the chopped onion in containers, plastic bags and cling film into the freezer. Onions can be stored in this form for three to six months.
