Most of the problems we face in the home and workplace seem difficult or completely impossible to solve with ordinary materials and simple tools. Here are 5 tips from experts on how to eliminate so-called “insoluble” problems easily and with affordable means.

How to securely press glued wooden blocks

Cut off the top and bottom of the plastic bottle, crumple the middle part and cut narrow rings with scissors.

We put them on glued wooden blocks and heat them with a hair dryer. As a result, the rings settle and tightly compress the glued workpieces.

How to adjust a kitchen or wardrobe door

The door is usually attached to the side wall furniture using the upper and lower canopies, which are equipped with adjusting screws. By rotating these screws in different directions, you can move the door outward or vice versa inward.

By rotating both screws in a coordinated manner, we can achieve equal clearances at the top, bottom, and between the doors.

How to secretly and securely fasten furniture panels at right angles

We cut a ring of a given width from a plastic pipe and divide it in half.

In the second shield we drill a hole for the tie screw, installing it in place. In the plastic half rings we make holes in the center, insert a tie screw and screw on the nut, which we heat with a hairdryer.

Pull the screw outward and solder the nut into the half ring. We install half of the ring with a soldered nut into the blind hole and tighten the tie screw.

How to securely connect a plastic hose to metal fittings

We put a union nut on the hose, heat the end of the plastic with a hair dryer and press it against a hard surface until an annular outer flange is obtained. Now, using a union nut, we connect the hose with any suitable fitting for the thread. To ensure tightness we use a gasket.

How to replace an unusable flexible hose with union nuts with a piece of plastic hose

We cut the stainless steel crimp sleeves with a hacksaw and set aside a couple of nuts and brass bushings. We cut off a piece of flexible plastic hose equal in length and diameter to the line being replaced.

We put union nuts on the plastic hose, and insert brass bushings into its ends. To prevent the hose from flying off the bushings, we secure it with wire clamps, using, for example, a lanyard.
