At the beginning of winter, on smooth ice that has not yet been covered with snow, even a new and embossed sole of EVA boots will not help. The legs will move apart and pulling fishing gear on the sled will become an almost insurmountable problem. If you equip the soles of your boots with ordinary traction spikes, all the inconveniences on smooth ice will immediately disappear. Any adult can do this kind of work.

- superglue or Moment glue;

The process of studding EVA fishing boots using conventional blind rivets
Using a white marker for contrast, mark the locations of the rivets on the black sole.
Taking into account the thickness of the sole, we drill holes 12 mm deep, using limiters on the drills in the form of a plastic dowel and tape.
Using a pin, we check the drilling depth and make sure that all the holes are blind, that is, the sole is not drilled through.
Squeeze a little superglue or Moment glue into each hole and insert rivets.
We stud the central part of the sole rivets with a diameter of 4.6 mm, and peripheral - 3.7 mm.
To keep the rivets in the sole as firmly as possible, we expand their cross-section using a rivet tool, but without tearing off the rivet rod, as this will render the studs useless.
We cut off the rivet rods with wire cutters or side cutters, leaving a length of 1.5-2 mm. It is the parts of the rods remaining on the sole that will prevent the soles from slipping on the smooth ice of a river or lake.
Let's estimate how much heavier the boots will become after installing the rivets. The weight of a whole rivet is 2 grams, the bitten off rod is 1 gram, i.e. the weight of the part of the rivet remaining in the sole is 1 gram. And there are 17 of them installed, which means the boots have become 17 grams heavier, which will not be felt at all when wearing them.
To ensure that the sharp ends of the rivet rods remaining in the soles do not scratch the floor in the rooms, carefully round off their end parts using a grinder at low speeds.
Let's evaluate the economic side of our process of studding one pair of boots. In total we installed 34 rivets costing approximately 1 ruble. That is, our costs amounted to 34 rubles. The price of finished studs is 90 rubles, and the total cost would be 3060 rubles. The savings are obvious.
