The squeaking sounds made by the windshield wiper blades as they move across the surface of the windshield can irritate even the most calm and patient driver or his passengers. Well, uncleaned areas of the windshield in the form of stripes on the edges or in its central part, both during the forward stroke of the wipers and during the return stroke, pose a serious danger on the road, especially at night.

There are 2 main reasons that cause unpleasant squeaking of windshield wipers during operation and poor cleaning of the windshield. The first of them can be connected with the brushes themselves, and the second with the holder (leash).

First, we remove the wipers and check the rubber scraper, which consists of a fastening element and a working tape that is in direct contact with the glass and removes water from it, sometimes mixed with snow and even dirt.

Cracks, tears, tears and tears are not allowed on it. If any are found, the wipers must be replaced with new ones.

First way

Having made sure that the rubber scraper of the wiper and especially the rubber band are in good condition, we proceed to inspect the holder and, first of all, its fit to the surface of the windshield. If it does not fit very tightly to the glass, then this is one of the reasons for the gaps when cleaning the windshield. Moreover, with such a defect, even replacing the rubber scraper of the wiper with a new one will not give a positive result.

It is necessary to achieve such a condition that the leash evenly and with its entire surface touches the windshield. To do this, it must be removed from the car and leveled using one of the acceptable methods.

Sometimes the nasty squeaking sound from the windshield wipers is not directly related to the wipers themselves. In this case, it is necessary to check the quality of the connection between the leash and the brush. There should be no side play. If it is still detected, then this indicates that a large hole has formed in the holder or wiper.

In this case, the brush does not move smoothly across the glass, but in jerks and at an angle, which is accompanied by both an unpleasant squeak and failures in cleaning the glass.

Second way

The second reason for skipping and squeaking may be due to the fact that the spring that presses the windshield wiper to the surface of the windshield has weakened. You can easily check the condition of the wiper pressure spring. If, while the brush is pressed to the glass, you lift it and still do not feel the pressing force of the spring, then it should be replaced.
