Making liquid plastic to restore plastic products

First of all, we establish the type of material from which the restored part is made. In our case, this is ABS plastic. This means we need to find a piece of plastic of the same brand.

We cut off a fragment of suitable size, with which we will repair the broken plastic part.

We divide it into small pieces, pour it into a medical syringe and add such an amount of acetone so that all the plastic particles are in the acetone.

After 2 hours, the pieces of plastic completely dissolve in acetone, and we obtain a homogeneous composition with the required viscosity. The syringe material does not interact with acetone and remains completely intact.

Apply the resulting mixture evenly to the surface of the fracture, press the broken piece and fill the fracture site from the outside.

We maintain the repaired unit for 24 hours, after which it acquires its original strength.

This is objectively shown by testing in the form of loading the fracture site with a tensile force created by a plastic 5-liter bottle filled with water.

Option for another plastic gluing

We carefully process the plastic surfaces to be joined with sandpaper until the shine is completely removed and the surfaces are given a certain roughness.

Cover the sanded surfaces with acetone using a watercolor or paint brush.

On the base surface we apply a composition from a syringe, which is a solution of plastic in acetone.

We apply the upper part to the base surface, press it with clamps and leave it alone for 24 hours.

After the specified time, the strength of the connection is not inferior to the strength of the whole material.
