Making a powerful step-down transformer for various needs is not that difficult. To do this, you will need parts of the core of a pair of old non-working speakers.
The main advantage of a homemade transformer is that you yourself can initially set the necessary parameters for it.
Will need
- A pair of cores from old speakers.
- The frame of the coil, which is a coil of solder or wire.
- Wire 0.25 mm.
- Wire 0.85 mm.
- Masking tape.
Transformer manufacturing
Drill a hole closer to the center of the coil for the wire.
We thread the wire and wind it evenly 1200 turns.
Drill a hole for the second wire exit. We clean the ends and measure the resistance.
84 Ohms for a network with a voltage of 230 V will be normal.
We take masking tape and insulate the primary winding. We cut the width with scissors.
We wind the secondary winding with a 0.85 mm wire. The number of turns for 12 V is 65.
We isolate the winding. We glue tape on top of the wire of the primary winding, isolating them from the core.
To ensure that the core fits tightly into the frame, we wrap a little masking tape around it.
And install both cores on top and bottom
The transformer is ready. Just connect the power plug to the primary winding.
Examination. A 100 watt halogen lamp is used as the load.
A 250 W transformer was connected through the diode.
Conclusion
It is advisable to use this transformer as a temporary solution, as it has low efficiency and the core may heat up due to strong eddy currents.
