Materials:
- sewer pipe d150 or 200 mm;
- PP or PVC pipe d25 mm;
- furniture hinges – 2 pcs.;
- bolts with nuts M6 – 5 pcs.;
- rivets for rivet gun;
- snap-on latch for drawers;
- Super glue;
- dye.
Making a box
From the pipe from which the box body is planned to be made, you need to cut 4 rings up to 5-10 mm wide. To do this, the pipe must first be trimmed straight, and then marked and cut into rings.
Next, a piece is cut from the pipe to make a box. If you plan to carry a hammer and wrenches with screwdrivers, then 30 cm is enough; for a longer tool, pipes will require more.
To make the sides of the box, you need to take another piece of pipe, perhaps even with a cross-section of 100 mm, and cut it lengthwise. The trimmed workpiece is placed in an oven heated to 200 degrees Celsius.
After 3-5 minutes it will become soft and even out. It needs to be pulled out and cooled by pressing it with a flat object onto a flat base. Afterwards, 2 disks are cut out from the cooled plate along the inner diameter of the pipe to make the box body.
Next, markings are made on the base pipe for installing the legs. Holes are drilled along it, into which M6 screws are inserted and clamped closer to the edges.
Then a marking is made for the cover to be inserted, and it is cut out. You will also need to make slots on the body for the hinges so that they are screwed evenly. For the hinges, mounting holes are drilled on the box and its lid.
Narrow rings from the tube are dissected and fitted to the box from the inside, after which their excess edge is cut off. After this, the diameter of the rings will allow them to be placed in the housing pipe. Then a ring, a disk, a ring is glued at the ends of the box using superglue, thus creating the sides.
Next, take a piece of pipe with a diameter of 25 mm and a length of 25 cm. It is marked into 5 sectors. Marks are placed in increments of 25 mm, 45 mm, 110 mm, 45 mm, 25 mm.
After this, the tube is heated with a hairdryer or gas, and bent along the marks into a handle. Then the handle is drilled out for fastening to the box lid.
The next step is to paint all the plastic parts; before doing this, you need to temporarily remove the legs from the bolts. After the paint has dried, they are installed back. Then the hinges and cover are mounted on the rivets. A handle is attached to the lid.
Next, a fitting of the snap-on latch is made on the assembled box, and holes are drilled for it. It is also installed with rivets.Moreover, if the latch does not have its own latch, then a screw with a nut can be used to prevent it from opening.
