Few people know that Philadelphia cream cheese can be prepared at home. The ingredients for cooking are incredibly inexpensive and affordable! 250 grams of cream cheese will cost you only 50-100 rubles! Home Philadelphia is no worse than industrial Philadelphia. It is just as tender, moderately oily, with an airy creamy texture. Using this cheese makes excellent rolls, creams and snacks. The aroma of the cheese is inexpressive, milky, kefir taste and smell are completely absent.

Will need

To prepare soft cream cheese you will need the following set of ingredients:
  • gauze - 1 pc.;
  • kefir - 1 l.;
  • colander;
  • salt - to taste.

Cheese preparation:

1. Before you start preparing Philadelphia, you need to freeze kefir. If the product is in a cardboard box or bottle, it can be placed in a regular plastic freezer bag. It is worth choosing kefir with high fat content - from 2.5%. Place the frozen kefir in a colander lined with gauze.

2. Cover the frozen kefir with the free ends of the gauze and place pressure on top of the product.Leave the kefir in this state until completely defrosted. This process will take from 3 to 6 hours.

3. Place the prepared cream cheese in a plate. Cover the product with cling film and refrigerate for several hours.

4. Add salt to the cheese to taste. You can also add your favorite dried herbs, spices, and chopped herbs. Bon appetit!

Budget cream cheese is no different from classic Philadelphia cheese. It is just as tender, dense in its structure, moderately fatty. It can be safely used for making rolls, sushi cakes, various appetizers, terrines with red fish, pies, desserts, mousses and creams. The cheese is prepared very simply and easily. All you have to do is pre-freeze the kefir and drain it in a colander after freezing! To make the cheese fattier, you can add a few tablespoons of sour cream with 25-30% fat content to kefir.

  • Yield: 250 g;
  • Calorie content: 50 kcal/100 grams, BZHU - 2.8/2.5/3.9
  • Cooking time: 5 minutes + 3-6 hours.

    Out of curiosity, I did exactly this, although I found the recipe somewhere else. There will be no trace of cheese.The result is a mass somewhat similar to sour cream, only with a thicker consistency.
