Many fishermen or coastal residents dream of owning a motor boat. There are many ways to make it, one of the simplest of which is welding a metal frame and covering it. If you use the thinnest inexpensive rolled metal and old plastic barrels for this, then assembling a homemade boat will not cost that much.

Materials:

  • Strip 20x20 mm;
  • corner 20x20 mm;
  • silicone sealant;
  • plastic barrels;
  • screws for metal.

Boat making process

Making a boat should begin by drawing its sides in full size on the workshop floor. Jumpers for reinforcement are immediately drawn on the template. Pay attention to the notch on the bottom side, it is needed for stability and ease of control.

The side frame is welded directly on the template. Its frame must be welded from strip. An arched stripe is used on the bow of the boat. You can bend it by tapping a regular flat pipe laid in a cut at the end of a large pipe.

Jumpers for the frame must be made from a corner. It is required to weld 2 sides with a mirror image. That is, the corners of the second edge are welded on the other side.

From the bottom, on the sides, a strip is welded to the frame to secure the skin. That is why the corner was not used, since it does not bend so well. Next, the sides are welded with bottom bridges. They are already made from a corner.

At the top in front, the sides are connected by one jumper from a corner, and a second at the back, made of a strip bent in an arc. The longitudinal strips are welded from below to increase the rigidity of the sheathing.

Next you need to work on the top of the boat. A strip is welded along the sides to fasten the sheathing, just as before on the bottom. Then a U-shaped part is welded from a corner or strip. It will allow you to separate the deck of the boat, as well as expand the side. Short stiffening ribs are welded from it to the side parallel to the lower jumpers. The deck is also strengthened.

The frame of the boat is painted and sheathed with plastic cut from barrels.

For convenience, you can cut out a template from corrugated cardboard, and after trying it on, cut the sheathing according to it. It easily opens with a grinder. The sheathing parts need to be placed on the sealant and then screwed with self-tapping screws.

Once ready, the motor is installed on the boat.

Due to the sealant, it will definitely not leak. It is advisable to make a flooring before use, at least from thin plywood, so as not to step on the plastic, as it may come off.
