Waldorf dolls are traditional textile folk dolls, they got their name thanks to parents who use them in raising their children according to Waldorf pedagogy.
The dolls themselves are made only from natural materials, so they are pleasant to the touch. The doll's clothes are cotton or linen, the stuffing is wool, cotton wool.
Waldorf butterfly dolls are recommended for babies from birth.

You can sew them yourself, for this you will need:
• White knitted fabric.
• Flesh-colored knitted fabric.
• Brightly colored cotton fabric.
• Natural filler - cotton wool
• White threads to match the fabric.
• Needle.
• Tailor's pins.
• Scissors.
• A small ball of wooly notes.
• Colour pencils.

How to sew a Waldorf butterfly doll


Process description:
• Take a small ball and wrap it in cotton wool or wool. Tie the bottom with strong threads several times.
• Take white jersey, fold it in half, baste, sewing up the corners.
• Machine or hand stitch the seam.
• Turn the white cover over onto your face.



• Put a white cover on your head made of cotton wool.
• Secure the white cover with threads.
• Wrap the thread several times in the middle of the head and secure it. This is the eye line.
• Thread a small triangle of white jersey around the edge onto a needle and thread.



• Tighten the thread, form a nose and sew it in the middle of the intended face just below the eye line.
• Take nude knitwear, fold it in half, baste, sewing up the corners.
• Machine or hand stitch the seam.
• Turn the body cover over onto your face.



• Place a flesh-colored jersey cover over your head.
• Straighten the folds on the upper cover and pull the thread tightly across the base of the head (forming the chin).



• Fold the fabric in half and cut out the body in the shape of a butterfly.



• Remove the cap.



• Baste the seams, sew them by machine or by hand.
• Turn the fabric over your face through the neckline.



• Prepare 2 small balls of cotton wool for the arms and 2 larger ones for the legs.



• Place large balls in the corners of the legs, and small ones in the corners of the arms.
• After this, you need to wrap it with thread, starting from the inside out, fixing the cotton wool and sew it on.
• Also secure the remaining arms and legs.



• Place cotton wool into the body, but do not pack it too tightly.
• Sew the cap to the head, bending the edge.
• Insert the head into the body.
• Fold the edge of the butterfly body and sew with hidden stitches to the base of the neck.



• Decorate the neckline with a ribbon.



• Draw the eyes and mouth.
