Another way to control weeds at the joints of garden path slabs. An available household preparation is used as an active agent. Today we will kill weeds with baking soda.
It is important to note that we will use soda ash or, as it is also called “washing soda.” This is a safe household product that can be purchased at any hardware supermarket. Baking soda will also work. But we will not use caustic soda (caustic soda), since it is quite toxic and when working with it, precautions should be taken, including the use of respirators and safety glasses.
The process of preparing a weed control solution
Let's heat the water to about 60 degrees Celsius. Water temperature is important! In colder water, soda will not dissolve completely. A very hot solution will lose its properties. For 600 milliliters of water, take 1 tablespoon of soda ash and mix thoroughly. If we use baking soda, then the amount of substance per 600 ml of water will be required - 4 tablespoons.
After the soda has completely dissolved, pour the prepared solution into a spray bottle. Using such a device when processing tile joints is much more convenient - the product will be delivered exactly as intended. Be sure to wear protective rubber gloves.
Spraying weeds
Let's start spraying. Apply the solution directly to the growing weed. There is no need to remove it first. Depending on the type of plant, the treatment may need to be repeated several times.
For example, moss dies after the first spraying, and thistle or wheatgrass will require treatment for several days. Dead weeds can be easily removed from the joints of the tiles by hand. Or you can simply sweep it off the path with a stiff brush.
Unlike special weed killers such as Roundup, which contain toxic poisons, the soda solution is safe for people, animals and insects.
