Recently I decided to make applique on clothes. Actually, painting on fabric is easier and somehow faster, but if the intended design is not successful, the item can be thrown away. Therefore, I decided to tell you how to make an Owl applique.

You will need:
1.gold and red outline for fabric or welded with your own hands from wax candles (church), white spirit and gold paint (hardware store).
2. thin golden threads (as for embroidery) or fabric glue (art supplies store)
3. paints on fabric or gouache + acrylic 1:1.
4. a small piece of artificial satin, white.

So, let’s take and transfer a sketch of an owl from the monitor screen to a sheet of paper. You can print it out, but it’s better to redraw the basic contours of the bird.

Next, take a piece of satin, put a drawing under it and draw the main lines with a pencil.
Draw an outline for the fabric along the drawn lines. For me it was a red outline. Then I decided to apply the darkest parts of the drawing, although usually, according to the rules of drawing, it is recommended to apply lighter tones first. This is what happened

Next you need to paint over the bird. This is what happened

Now the Owl drawing needs to be decorated with a gold outline. After this, the bird should be cut out of fabric with an allowance for melting and sprinkling of about 2-3mm.

Now the most crucial moment is melting. Just like making petals for artificial flowers, we will melt the edges of the applique. Be careful - away from the fire, we need to melt the fabric a little so that it doesn’t fall off, and not burn down the house!

Then gold threads are used. We thread it into the sewing machine, set it to medium zig-zag, fabric density 0, stitch length 0.5 and adjust along the melted contours. You can even pin it down with pins so that when you sew it on, the applique doesn’t “move” to the side.
