Round rug cape

Rugs that are crocheted are a fairly common thing, and are crocheted by almost everyone who is interested in knitting. But even in this manufacturing process you can find your own highlights and interesting things. For example, if you need present for housewarming or the so-called “guest”, so as not to go empty-handed to visit friends or neighbors. You can knit such a rug quite quickly, but so that it does not seem rustic, we will make it not just a rug, but a cape for sitting on a chair, stool or armchair.

We use yarn containing acrylic to ensure wear resistance. In this case, a rather thick half-woolen or acrylic Karachay yarn and an N5 hook would be appropriate. We use a single-color thread, but this is not a dogma; if there is an interesting combination of threads, then use melange. And if the gift is intended for a girl, then we will knit a rug from soft pink yarn, and the rug will resemble strawberry marshmallows.

We cast on the initial chain of 4 loops and connect them into a ring. We knit the first row into a ring, doubling the original number of loops. Then we knit seven rows with double crochets, evenly adding loops, so that we get an even flat circle. On the 8th row we knit arches, which consist of 5 air loops. We knit the arches through one loop of the bottom row. Having completed the circle, we raise knitting for 3 chain stitches and knit the next row of chain stitches, connecting all the arches. Between the arches we knit 3 air loops, then a loop into the arch, then continue, repeating the rapport * 3 ch, 1 treble without a cape in the arch of the previous row “*”.

We complete the circular row above the arched row, raise the knitting by 3 chain stitches to move to the next circle and continue to knit with double crochets until the end of the knitting, that is, until the ball of yarn runs out. 50 grams of acrylic Karachay yarn made a rug with a diameter of about 52 cm. Just what you need.

In addition to the openwork knitting insert, we’ll add some extra flair to our rug. We use thick white yarn. Using a hook, we stretch one thread along the entire contour of the openwork insert. We tie a small bow and a strong bow knot.

We stretch the second thread along the contour edge of the rug and also tie a bow. To prevent the bows from coming undone, you can secure them with a few invisible stitches using regular thread.
