Real needlewomen never throw anything away. All kinds of packaging boxes, jars, ropes, ribbons, empty pen ampoules, wallpaper scraps and even candy wrappers... everything is neatly folded in a specially designated place. Sooner or later, for every seemingly unnecessary thing there is a use. To give something a second wind, you just need to audit your accumulated “treasures” and use your imagination a little.
Vase made from tape reels

Take reels of tape, for example. If there are a lot of them (five or more pieces), then they can become the basis for creating a beautiful vase with a pattern of paper napkins. The materials are the most common, but the result is simply amazing!
For the manufacture of crafts you need to collect the following materials and tools:
  • 5 rolls of tape;
  • a roll of paper napkins;
  • tube with PVA glue;
  • a piece of high-density cardboard;
  • scissors;
  • brown gouache;
  • brush;
  • golden acrylic paint;
  • a piece of foam rubber.

Take 5 rolls of tape. Make sure that they are all the same height and diameter.

Take the first cardboard ring. Apply a layer of PVA glue to one of its ends and glue the second ring to it.

Then fix the third one in the same way.

Then the fourth and fifth.

Now is the time to make the bottom of the vase. To do this, draw a circle on a piece of thick cardboard: place the resulting structure on it and trace it along the outer edge.

Carefully cut out a circle, then glue it with PVA glue to one of the edges of the paper blank.

Now the structure needs to be covered with paper napkins. They will create texture and hide the joints of the reels from the tape.

Next, proceed to applying the relief pattern. It is convenient to make it from flagella twisted from paper napkins.
Glue the strips at the joints of the bobbins.

Then make smaller details: spirals, weaves or some interesting shapes. Apply glue to the base, apply paper parts and press well with your fingers. If they come off, then you will have to hold them with your hands a little longer.
Additional elements will be paper balls glued in a symmetrical order on each segment of our vase.

When the pattern of paper flagella sticks well and the glue used is completely dry, the craft can be painted. Cover it with two layers of brown gouache. Wait for the paint to dry.

Then, using a piece of foam rubber, apply golden acrylic paint. Paint not only the patterns, but also the spaces between them.

The result is a beautiful, unusual, straight-shaped vase with an original ornament.

Adviсe:
  • - if you don’t have tape reels, take a piece of plastic pipe of suitable diameter;
  • - instead of paper tows, you can use linen tow or knitting thread to form an ornament;
  • - you can cover the bobbins with plain fabric, bright wrapping paper or regular burlap;
  • - instead of brown gouache, use black, then the gold paint will look even more contrasting;
  • - tell the children that the vase is intended exclusively for artificial flowers; you cannot pour water into it.

    Great! This way you can also make low cups for pencils, markers and pens. We did this together with the child, and now my daughter always has order on her table. Thanks for the original idea!

    I absolutely agree that you should not throw away even seemingly unnecessary things or the remains of them. And as much as possible, I try to collect waste material for needlework, although I’m still a long way from tape reels! But in vain, because the result is a complete sight for sore eyes, I already want to make the same vase.
