Sleds made from scrap materials

As soon as the first snow fell, it turned out that the house did not have such a necessary winter cargo vehicle as a sled. Children's sleds have long since been "sent" to a well-deserved rest in a pile of scrap metal, and they would have been rather weak for carrying heavy loads. I had to start making new sleds, so to speak, household sleds - stronger and better suited for transporting goods.

To make a sled you will need

From the tools:
  • Bulgarian.
  • Welding machine.
  • From materials:
  • Pipes.
  • Plates.
  • Corners.

Making sleds

The very basis for our future sleds will be the railing from an old bed, which I cut exactly in the middle.

To extend the base, I will take pipes of the same diameter.

We measure out how much we need and cut it off.

The result should be two identical pipes.

In the future, we must weld these pipe sections together.

To weld pipes evenly, it is best to clamp them in a vice. Clean weld areas.

And we start cooking.

To begin with, we grab it, and then completely scald it in a circle.

I carried out all welding work with a current of about one hundred amperes, 3 mm electrodes.

We perform the same operation with the remaining segments.

I made two sled mounts from a metal corner and a rod. The distance from corner to corner is 50 cm.

We clean off rust. We weld these fasteners between two curved pipes.

Since the sled is very long, I shortened it using a grinder.

The result is something similar to a sled, but for this design there is still not enough rigidity.

From such a strip I will make a fastening for a rope.

We bend it as shown in the photo, the edges are 10 cm, the length itself is 50 cm.

We insert it into the pipes and weld it.

To strengthen the structure, I will use the same strips, we will only need two pieces.

We weld along the base.

On one side and the other.

From pieces of corners, I made a seat for the seat.

Cut into two equal lengths.

We weld these two corners sevenfold along the base to the fasteners themselves.

This is what it should look like.

Since the sled is TOO long, I shortened it, from the back and from the front, thereby lightening the weight.

I used doors from an old bedside table as a seat.

We tie the rope and the sled is ready.

The result is a very comfortable and durable sled, on which you can transport a load weighing up to 100 kg. Anyone can make them at home from available materials.
