Preparing the ceiling surface
To impart strength to the surface, the ceiling must be primed with high-quality colorless or white deep-penetrating primer, puttied with a starter and primed again with the same primer. This is necessary to create a moisture-resistant and perfectly white surface.
It is important to remember that if the ceiling was previously covered with finishing (wallpaper, whitewash, etc.), it must be removed. Over time, the old coating will begin to peel off, and with it the liquid wallpaper.
It is also worth paying special attention to a perfectly flat ceiling surface. This is due to the fact that the light from the lighting fixtures is directed at the surface almost like a side light, as a result of which all defects, cracks, depressions, and tubercles will be visible on the ceiling.
Application of liquid wallpaper
It is better to apply liquid wallpaper with a plastic grater, smoothing it with a back-and-forth motion over the surface in a layer of up to 2 mm. It is necessary to apply wallpaper to the ceiling from corner to corner and not stop at part of what has been done. You can smooth the wallpaper in any convenient direction, but you should avoid circular movements. To ensure a uniform pattern in color and texture, the ceiling must be covered with material from one batch over the entire surface to be coated. Wallpapering work should end when the entire ceiling is covered.
It is important to remember that liquid wallpaper must be applied when all design elements are installed, including the ceiling plinth.
The room should be well ventilated during and after work. Thanks to active ventilation, moisture evaporates faster and, as a result, the wallpaper dries faster.
Liquid wallpaper can be applied to the ceiling in almost any room, even in the bathroom. The main thing is to avoid direct contact with liquid.
