Probably every fishing enthusiast is faced with the choice of bait, which is best to take with him. I suggest you try a simple recipe for making homemade, organic and biodegradable bait, which I have been using for years. This bait contains an enzyme, so it attracts fish perfectly.

Required Ingredients

To make baits, you need the most common products, which are almost certainly found in every home:
  • 150 grams of water.
  • 4 sachets of gelatin.
  • 3 capsules of fish oil.

I also add a little food coloring, but this is completely optional.

Making bait

When all the ingredients have been collected, you can start making bait.
Pour 3/4 cup of water into a small saucepan or other metal container.

To extract fish oil from a capsule, I pierce it with a needle and then squeeze it into the prepared water.

The water is placed on low heat and slightly heated.

I pour the gelatin into warm water, so it mixes easier.

Important! During the heating process, the mixture is constantly stirred!

After obtaining a homogeneous liquid mass, I add dye at the tip of a knife, after which I mix everything thoroughly again.

Now is the time to pour the mixture into molds.

Since this is not the first time I have made such baits, I already have a ready-made form. You can make it very simply yourself from construction silicone.

Once filled, I put it in the freezer for 10-15 minutes. When the mixture has hardened thoroughly, I take out the mold, remove the finished baits, and then repeat the process again.

What materials can be used to make molds for pouring?

You can use ordinary plastic cocktail straws as a mold for casting the bait.

The only problem with these forms is that liquid gelatin leaks out of them. I solved this problem as follows:
  • I cut the tubes in half so that I get a lot of short straws.

  • I connect them with an elastic band.

  • I pour the warm gelatin mixture into a glass.

  • I insert the tubes there, they are filled with gelatin.
  • I put the glass in the refrigerator.

After the gelatin hardens, I take the baits out of the tubes. Most often, frozen pieces of gelatin pop out of cocktail tubes easily (I push them out with a thick knitting needle), but some have to be cut to get the contents out.

Advice! Keep prepared baits in the refrigerator if they are not used for a long time.
I do not claim that the method I propose allows you to get the best bait. Moreover, the process is quite tedious. But if you have small children, you can involve them - it will be a fun game for them to get gelatin worms.

Fish oil is already in gelatin capsules.
And what is this “secret enzyme” that there’s not a word about?
