Tourists and travelers, fishermen and hunters often stay in the forest overnight; without a fire, spending the night is dangerous and uncomfortable. But how can you keep it burning for a long time while you rest? There is an original solution, although it will take a little work to implement it.

Tools

You will need a saw, an ax and the desire to complete the task. Making such a fire requires quite a lot of physical effort.

How the fire works

Before you begin, you should understand the important nuances of the process of burning such a fire.
Dry logs are used for the fire; their diameter depends on the availability of wood nearby and the required flame size. The logs are placed on supports at an angle of approximately 45 degrees. The angle is adjusted depending on the diameter and intensity of their combustion. If you make the angle larger, the fire can spread to all the wood. If it is less, then they will not roll into the fire on their own as they burn.

This is how a fire works. The logs below are set on fire, and as the first ones burn out, the top ones fall down under the influence of gravity. Due to this, the firewood burns one at a time, and not all at the same time.

How to do

Prepare four supports; they should have a spear at one end. The length of the supports is approximately 1.5 m, sharpen the lower ends, this will make it easier to fix them in the ground.
Prepare four even logs approximately 2 m long and 10 cm in diameter. These elements hold the firewood.

Assemble the structure, place one log on each support, and make it look like an open book. The logs must lie in the same plane. The structure is shaky, an assistant is needed to support it.

Dig small recesses at the ends of the structure and in the center; they are necessary for air access. If the logs are completely lying on the ground, then it is impossible to set them on fire from below, but you need to achieve just such a combustion.
Place dry branches between the first lower logs; you need to make a gap 5–6 cm wide for the flame to escape along the entire length.

Carefully stack the firewood in the form of thick logs; their weight will strengthen the structure.

The fire is ready to use; use dry branches to light it at the bottom. Get the logs to burn along their entire length. This is a mandatory condition, otherwise the fresh ones will not be able to descend and replace the burnt ones.

conclusions

As practice has shown, the system works well; depending on the diameter and number of logs, it can burn for more than 14 hours - and this is definitely not the limit. But for ordinary tourists it is better to make a structure of much smaller dimensions, to use only the original principle of burning a fire.
