Converting a car generator into a powerful electric motor

Car generators, due to their design, are small in size and have very high power. It would seem that such a tiny thing can easily produce an average of 2000 W of power (there are models up to 5 kW).
A generator cannot operate like an electric motor if you simply apply voltage to it. To turn it into a small-sized, powerful motor, it needs to be modified.

In the example, use a 95 Amp model. Remove the plastic casing from the back of the generator.

Under this casing there is a three-phase bridge of rectifier diodes mounted on the radiator. And a brush assembly with an output voltage regulation controller.

Unscrew the radiator with diodes. You may have to work with wire cutters so that everything can be removed quickly.

In this model, the brushes and controller have one plastic body.

Let's saw off the brushes from the controller.

The generator itself is built as a commutator motor. It has 6 outputs respectively from three windings on the stator.

To turn on the windings in a “triangle”, you need to connect them in series with each other.

The result was an ordinary commutator, three-phase 12 V motor with a power of about 1.5 kW.
To control it, you can use a bicycle controller, which is designed to control the motor wheel. You can buy it on Ali Express -
The voltage can be any, all of them are designed for a voltage of at least 12 V. But the controller power must be at least 1.5 kW.

To start a generator as an engine, it is necessary to apply a constant voltage to its collector. To do this, we install the brush assembly in place and apply a constant voltage of 12 V to it.

The current is, of course, large, but it can be reduced depending on the required power.

We connect the controller to the engine and to the 12 V battery.

Use the control knob to adjust the engine speed.
Then such a motor can be installed on either a buggy or a bicycle. 1.5 kW of power is enough for everything.

At first glance, it looks like a smart homemade product, it would have been possible in the 70s.
Are normal electric motors in short supply, or is it a shame to throw away the generator?

Of course you can turn a generator!!! THREE-PHASE into an electric motor...
“The result is” not an “ordinary commutator”, but a phase motor, and its operation will require three-phase voltage... in this case, an electronic controller.
It doesn’t take much intelligence to disassemble the generator and remove everything unnecessary from it.
You'd better tell us more about the electronic circuit that controls this motor.
Moreover, there is quite a large selection of such schemes, but not everyone knows how to use them.

Conclusion: The topic is interesting, but the article contains insignificant information, and exactly what should be told in the article is missing.
Judging by the fact that the author calls this motor a commutator, he has very little understanding of the topic on which he is writing.
