With the arrival of winter, a number of unpleasant surprises await all motorists associated with this wonderful time of year. One of these annoying troubles is the constant sticking of dirt mixed with snow on the fenders and sills.

Such “stucco” freezes and turns into a piece of ice, which can prevent not only the rotation of the wheel, but also its turning. Moreover, this adhered dirt most likely (and in big cities 100%) contains reagents and salts that can cause irreparable damage to the body of your car, as a result of which it is more likely to begin to rot and rust from below.
Therefore, it is recommended to promptly clean the surfaces of the fender liner and sills from ice and dirt. Of course, you can wash your car often, but such “surprises” can stick in just one trip.

How to prevent sticking?

There is one very good way to protect your car from snow sticking to the fenders and sills. It was once suggested to me by an experienced driver, for which I thank him very much!
Its essence is incredibly simple:
To prevent snow from sticking, you need to treat the fender liners and sills with silicone grease - from a spray.Or, in the absence of it, WD-40 is perfect.

As a result, a protective film is formed on the surface, which prevents the retention of water or snow.

The treatment must be done on a clean and dry surface! It is recommended to apply lubricant after washing, once the car is dry. Then, after application, you should wait until the lubricant dries, and only then you can drive.

Nowadays, many car washes provide services for spraying rubber seals on doors with silicone grease; you can ask them to spray the sills and fenders. As a matter of fact, that’s what I do too. I wash my car 1-2 times a month, all this time the coating layer holds up quite well and protects the sills with fender liners.
This is such practical, and most importantly 100% working advice! Take it and use it.

Cool! But nonsense! Because immediately after washing in winter, a new layer of snow will stick or these places will become dirty!

It's cheaper to go to a car wash than to spray WD-40 on your fender liners! This is if the author does not know how much WD-40 and washing cost.

WD-40 will be a bit expensive. Why waste money? Motor oil / waste / - free and easy, if you really need it. so that the snow doesn't stick

Sticky snow is an excellent protection against sandblasting from under the wheels, so I don’t recommend knocking down ice and snow; the thresholds will last longer.

Complete nonsense, have you tried it yourself? If due to weather conditions it sticks, it sticks, no matter what you spray it with. I checked it myself. Use lubricant as intended.

Who cares, but I have a self-service car wash a hundred meters from my GSK. Almost every time I park my car in the garage, I go there and wash my car for 100-150 rubles (if it includes shampoo). It’s a penny, but the car is clean, without sticking snow and salt
