Partition manufacturing process
Since the partition consists of complex geometric shapes, precise planning must be done before its manufacture. To do this, you need to calculate the height and width of the opening passing through it, as well as its location on the partition.
Based on the calculation results, the partition frame is welded. For this, a 40x60 mm profile pipe is used.
Blanks are cut from it and trimmed at 45 degrees.
This will create a neat closed outside corner when welding at right angles.The bottom side of the frame must be interrupted by an opening, so it will consist of two pieces of pipe, otherwise you will end up with a threshold. To weld the frame evenly, the workpieces need to be laid on 2 long pipes aligned in the same plane, and of course use a square.
The resulting seams should be carefully sanded, potholes should be sealed with quick-drying putty, and after it has dried, sanded again.
Next comes the most important and difficult part. It is necessary to calculate the size of the hexagonal honeycomb to fill the partition. For their manufacture, a 40x40 mm pipe is used. The calculated blanks must be cut in a special way. To do this, a cut along one wall is made at 45 degrees, then from the extreme point along the other wall again at 45 degrees, but with the opposite slope, and so on. Such beveled ends should be obtained on all sides of each workpiece. Moreover, it is important that the corners at one edge of the workpiece have a mirror image at the other end.
Then, when joining the workpieces, it is necessary to weld them together.
This shape of the ends will result in a lattice with honeycombs. Welding is performed on a level surface. You just need to place an electrode at the intersection of three workpieces.
A continuous seam is not required. Having made the grate, it needs to be welded into the partition frame. Cut sections of pipes are welded into the gaps between the honeycombs and the frame to form “half honeycombs” and completely cover the voids.
Next, you need to coat the joints of the honeycombs with putty. To do this, rub it in with your finger. The putty will close the unsealed gaps. Then it is sanded, the partition is primed and painted.
