Feed cutter manufacturing process
The most labor-intensive part is making a grater in the form of a drum. For this you need to prepare an elongated rectangular galvanized sheet. A width of 200-250 mm and a length of 600-700 mm is sufficient. Markings are made on it for perforation. The sheet must be drilled in a checkerboard pattern with a drill with a diameter of 6-12 mm.
Next, you need to form teeth on the holes, like on a vegetable grater. To do this, a rod of the same diameter is inserted into each hole one by one, laid parallel to the sheet in the longitudinal direction and punched with a hammer through a machined hole. The sample used for this purpose must have a concavity in the shape of the rod. It is important that all teeth point in the same direction.
Having knocked out the teeth on each hole, you need to bend the sheet into a cylinder and rivet the ends. To add rigidity, rings of reinforcement or thick wire are welded inside the drum along the edge. Steel strips are welded through the center of the rings.
A frame is welded from a corner and pipes to install the drum. Its height should be such that it is convenient to rotate the drum while sitting on a stool. The front part of the bed is made lower than the back.
Holes are drilled in the center of the strips on the drum and a shaft is welded into them.
Its reach on one side should be greater, which will be required to install the handle. Housing bearings are installed on both sides of the shaft. They are then screwed to the frame.
Next, a crank is welded or screwed onto the edge of the shaft to rotate the drum. It should be placed on the high side of the bed so that the grated vegetables fall out and do not accumulate inside the cylinder. A galvanized funnel is assembled on top of the structure.
The feed cutter can be used for chopping pumpkin, zucchini, beets, potatoes, carrots, apples, pears and other succulent feed. When using it, you need to place a bucket under the bottom edge of the drum so that the grated vegetables and fruits fall directly into it.
