When upgrading a heating or water supply system, it may be necessary to cut into a pressurized pipe. This is more difficult than driving into a blocked highway, but it is quite possible, and without much risk of getting wet.
Materials:
- steel thread for welding or clamp for insertion;
- ball valve;
- linen or fulenta.
Method 1. Insertion with welding
The pipe is stripped from paint to bare metal.
Then the thread is welded to it. This is done as carefully as possible without any omissions.
Flax or fumlenta is screwed onto the thread, and a ball valve is installed.
Next, you need to open the tap and drill a pipe through it. It is optimal to use a cordless tool and the widest drill bit that can fit without damaging the faucet ball. The drill or screwdriver is covered with a bag or cardboard. You need to wear a mask or goggles, as the pressure of the water after drilling will throw the drilling chips straight into your face.
As soon as water flows from the pipe, you must quickly remove the drill and close the tap. If there are smudges on the seam, you will need to drip a little welding.
Method 2. Tapping without welding
For this method, you will need to buy a special clamp for the insert.
It is clamped onto a pipe with a rubber gasket.
Then a tap is screwed onto it and drilling is performed in the same way.
Both methods are used by professional plumbers, but for a person without experience in welding or with inconvenient access to the pipe, it is better to use a clamp. The main thing is not to forget to install the rubber seal.
