Convenient do-it-yourself clamp for a T-track made of plywood

If you have a T-track embedded in your workbench, it can be used to install sliding clamps. They are much more convenient than clamps, since they are placed not only on the edge, but also in any part of the tabletop. You can make them yourself.

Materials:

  • bolts for T-track;
  • plywood;
  • bar;
  • persistent furniture nuts.

Clamp manufacturing process

To make clamps from plywood, you need to draw L-shaped rounded templates. Each clamp requires 3 templates. They are drawn on the sheet in pairs, close to each other. The paper is glued to the plywood.

A hole is drilled between the double templates with a drill with a diameter of 20-30 mm.

The blanks need to be cut and glued in 3 pieces. In the one that will be in the center, cut out the part near the hole. Then the parts are glued together. The central one should have the middle cut out. After hardening, the clamps are ground.

On a lathe or in another accessible way, you need to prepare a round handle equal to the diameter of the drill used when drilling with a template at the beginning.

Blanks are cut from it for each clamp. Their length should be equal to 3 layers of plywood. The cylinders are then drilled crosswise using a drill that matches the diameter of the T-track bolt.

You will also need to cut 2 circles from plywood and make lambs out of them. Persistent furniture nuts are pressed into them.

During assembly, a cylinder is inserted into the clamp and a bolt is inserted from below. It passes through the window formed by the trimmed central plywood insert and the hole in the handle. At the exit, a lamb is screwed onto it.

The bolt head is then driven into the T-tracker. Pressing is done by tightening the wing nut.
