Using homemade DVB-T/T2 antenna in the form of a looped coaxial cable, despite its greater sensitivity, the signal quality may be insufficient. To amplify it, a balun made from the same cable is installed in front of the antenna.
Materials:
- coaxial cable;
- F-connectors – 4 pcs.;
- TV cable connector – 2 pcs.;
- heat-shrink tubing.
Balun manufacturing process
You need to take a piece of coaxial cable 30-35 cm long.
A 14 cm segment is marked in its center, from which a loop will be formed. From it, the first layer of insulation is removed from the side tails. You need to unwind the braid and tear off the foil.
The braids are twisted. Then the workpiece is bent and the braids are twisted together.
Next, take a small piece of cable 20 cm. An F-connector is immediately installed on one end. The top insulation is removed 4-5 cm from the second edge. Then the braid is also twisted and the foil is removed.
Now you need to completely remove the exposed bottom insulation on one tail of the loop and on the straight section.The insulation at the second end is removed with a distance of 2 cm from the loop.
It is necessary to twist the exposed central strands, removed completely at the straight section and the first end of the loop. The twist is shortened, leaving 1 cm is enough.
After this, all 3 braids are twisted. They are shortened to 2-3 cm and bent towards the loop. The F-connector is put on the twist of the central cores, and the long remaining core is wound onto it. The joint is then insulated with heat shrink tubing.
The balun is attached close to the antenna via a connector.
A TV cable is connected to its other end.
