Recommendations for preparing mulled wine at home

To properly prepare mulled wine at home, you need to consider several important points. Otherwise, you may not get the desired result and instead of a pleasant warming drink, you will end up with unleavened boiled wine.
• The most important rule is to never let the wine boil. Heat the wine at 70 degrees. This is the maximum permissible temperature. But since it is quite difficult to determine the temperature on your own, rely on your feelings. If you can drink without getting burned, then the temperature is acceptable.
• After the wine has been brought to the desired temperature, it needs to sit. Cover the container in which you heated with a lid and leave for 10 - 15 minutes.
• Wine selection. Red wine is good for making mulled wine at home. Dry or semi-dry red wine is an ideal base for mulled wine. White wine is not suitable, as its “sourness” will become especially noticeable when heated.
• All spices used to prepare mulled wine must not be ground. This is necessary so that the mulled wine does not turn out cloudy and an unpleasant sediment does not form.
• If you make mulled wine with added water, be sure to boil it. Wine should be poured into water, and not vice versa. Pour in the wine gradually, along the edge of the pan.
• If you decide to add citrus fruits to mulled wine, first peel them.
• For children, or for those who do not drink alcohol, you can make non-alcoholic mulled wine from grape juice.
• Prepare mulled wine in small portions that can be consumed quickly. This drink should not be heated several times. As a result, it loses its taste and aroma.
• Mulled wine is usually poured into ceramic dishes with thick walls.Ceramic keeps the drink warm longer. In the absence of ceramic dishes, you can pour mulled wine into tall transparent glasses.
The sequence of preparing mulled wine at home. When preparing mulled wine, it is important to follow a clear sequence. This will help achieve the desired result.
First, you need to boil water along with spices. As spices you can use cloves, coriander, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg. When the water has boiled for five minutes, add the wine. Pour it carefully, slowly, over the edge of the pan in which the water is boiling. Add fruit at the very end. After this, stirring constantly, heat the mixture over low heat until tender. As soon as the mulled wine heats up, immediately remove it from the heat and pour into mugs or glasses, straining through a strainer.

I was able to try this luxurious drink only once - the experience was unforgettable. I don’t know how realistic it is to replicate that divine taste on your own at home, but when the opportunity arises, I’ll try to use your recipe.

For non-alcoholic mulled wine, I tried using cherry juice instead of grape juice - it turned out incredibly tasty. It also goes well with the other components, I like it.
