If you remodel the Khrushchev refrigerator correctly and beautifully, it will fit perfectly into the new kitchen design.
There are several ways to remake:
- The refrigerator simply breaks out entirely. The niche in the wall is completely covered with brick.
- The refrigerator under the window breaks completely. A neater refrigerator is made in the niche. It will fit perfectly into the new kitchen interior.
- The old refrigerator breaks out. The resulting niche is used to build a cabinet.
How to remake an outdoor “Khrushchev” refrigerator
First, you should completely brick up the ventilation hole.
We attach the Izospan vapor barrier film to the wall leading to the street. Using plastic dowels and self-tapping screws, we attach bars measuring 20x40mm to the corners of the niche. We use two bars.
You can use one 40x40mm block. It's easier to use two bars. One is superimposed on the second. They are attached to each other with simple self-tapping screws.
To the right of the front bars we attach small bars above and below. They will be needed to rigidly fasten the doors of the cabinet under construction. We install the roof for the cabinet on top of the bars. You can use 10mm plywood.
The front and rear bars of the frame being created are set according to the level. We cover the side walls with chipboard. For the base of the cabinet you can use 10mm or 5mm plywood. We cover the side walls with chipboard.
To rigidly fasten the back wall, we attach bars around the perimeter. We lay ROCKWOOL insulation in the resulting niches. We cover the insulation with a vapor barrier film. The film is always laid with the rough side facing the insulation. We secure the back wall to the bars with self-tapping screws.
For this design, chipboard and plywood were used from old disassembled kitchen cabinets.
Accurate door manufacturing requires special tools and time. Therefore, for this cabinet, two ready-made “Cheesecake Business” doors measuring 40x70cm were purchased from LEROY MERLIN. The price of the doors is only 275 rubles. The size fits the new cabinet perfectly.
Magnetic “PUSH TO OPEN” latches were used to open the doors. The new cabinet opens with a simple finger press and fits perfectly into the future new kitchen interior.
