Wire scraps can be stripped of insulation and the copper wires can be scrapped. This is done very quickly using a special electric stripper. It can be made in the form of an attachment for a drilling machine.
Materials:
- steel roller with notches;
- broken drill or rod;
- any cuttings of pipes or corners;
- M10 pin;
- M10 nuts;
- tile cutter roller;
- thin furniture corners – 2 pcs.
The process of making a stripper on a drilling machine
The essence of the device is the rotation of a roller with notches on the spindle of a drilling machine. A sharp roller from a tile cutter is placed close to it with a small gap. When a wire is placed between them, it is pulled in and rolled. Since the rollers are close, when turned, the sharp one cuts through its insulation due to the retracted wire.
To make a feeder, you need to weld a broken drill or rod to a notched roller. The device is then clamped into the machine chuck.
A U-shaped bracket is welded from any sections. The gap in it should be wider than the feed roller.You drill a through hole in it for the pin, and install the roller from the tile cutter on it. Using nuts, it needs to be centered. 2 corners are screwed to the bracket in front of the roller. Due to the cutout for adjustment, they can be moved in and out. They will serve as upper and lower cable stops.
The clamp with the roller is clamped in a vice on the drilling table. You need to place it so as to create a small gap between the rollers. After this, the distance between the corners is set to the diameter of the cable. Now, when you turn on the machine, the device will tighten the wire and release its insulation.
All that remains is to pull it off with a slight movement of the hand.
