The car heater radiator has very fine honeycombs, so when antifreeze is rarely replaced, it becomes clogged with rusty scale. To avoid freezing in winter, install this filter in front of the cabin heater. It will remove all the large and medium fractions from the antifreeze, thereby preventing the radiator from clogging.
What you will need:
- anti-scale filter for boiler;
- filter element for main filter;
- fittings with external thread 1/2 inch – 2 pcs.;
- brass corners external/internal thread 1/2 inch – 2 pcs.
Filter installation process
The filter is installed on the stove circuit in front of its radiator. Even if it gets clogged, it will not affect the engine cooling system. You need to use an anti-scale filter for the boiler, since its flask can withstand heating up to 105°C.
Instead of its standard cartridge, you need to install a cut-off regular filter element from the main filter.
Brass corners need to be screwed into the boiler filter housing. Fittings of a suitable size are screwed into the latter, hoses are pulled onto them and tightened with standard clamps.
After starting the antifreeze circulation, you need to bleed the air from the filter. This is done by loosening the clamps on the hose.
The filter works 100%.
On the test vehicle, after only 50 km, a lot of scale had accumulated on the cartridge. For clarity of the experiment, it was replaced, and after another 50 km it was compared with the previous one.
The second filter element became much less dirty over the same mileage. That is, the antifreeze has actually become cleaner, which is good for the car’s cooling system as a whole.
