For a comfortable outdoor recreation, you can make a tourist folding table. When folded, it looks like a suitcase and weighs only 6 kg. Let's look at how to make it.
Materials:
- Pine block 40x40 mm;
- door hinges 40 mm – 2 pcs.;
- self-tapping screws;
- slats 10x40 mm;
- furniture bolts M8 80 mm with nuts – 4 pcs.;
- clamp latch.
Table manufacturing process
From a pine block you need to assemble 2 square frames measuring 50x50 cm using self-tapping screws. These will be the halves of the table.
The caps of the screws can be closed with dowels.
From the same block, 4 legs, 41.9 cm long, are cut. One of their edges needs to be rounded.
2 legs will be placed inside each frame, and recline when unfolded. They need to be drilled and screwed to the frame with long bolts.
Washers 2 mm thick are placed between the legs and table frames. To increase rigidity, each pair of legs is connected by transverse bars 37.5 cm long.
The halves of the frame are connected to each other by door hinges.
Then you need to cut 10x40 mm slats, 52 cm long, for the tabletop. Before assembly, all elements are painted.
The slats are nailed to the tabletop with a 10 mm indent. This will allow precipitation not to linger, and will also make the structure lighter.
A latch is installed on the table to hold it in the folded state.
A belt is nailed next to it, which will serve as a handle for transportation.
As a result, we put together a table measuring 100x52 cm and 43 cm high. Inside it, when folded, there is an empty space where you can put a camping tool to save space in the car.
