When building on a budget, you have to save on everything. A significant part of the costs falls on the floor screed, as well as the foundation. For a small extension or a one-story house, you can make them using old tires and construction waste.

The process of pouring cheap screed and foundation
Along the perimeter of the screed or foundation, you need to remove the top loose soil to a dense bottom layer. The foundation pit should be such that tires can be placed in it, and there will be at least another 50 mm left to the future floor level for pouring concrete. The trench is dug deeper under the foundation.
Geotextiles are spread around the perimeter and tires are laid out. They are filled with construction waste, such as bricks, concrete fragments, etc. This will allow you to avoid buying crushed stone. You can even throw glass bottles into the gaps between the tires.
The top of the tires is covered with sand, which needs to be compacted.
A screed is poured onto this pillow. To strengthen it, you can put an old rusty chain-link mesh or other scrap metal in it instead of fittings.
Concrete is prepared from sand and cement in a ratio of 1:4. Its height should be at least 5 cm. As a result, we get a solid foundation without purchased crushed stone and reinforcement. You can get tires for free at a tire shop, and you can buy nets from scrap metal for pennies. You will only have to spend money on sand, geotextiles and cement.
