Baskets and dishes with painted eggs are one of the main attributes of Easter. To decorate your gifts in a modern style and surprise your loved ones, try the marble painting technique. This simple, eco-friendly way will allow you to revive traditions and get creative with familiar treats.
How to Marble Easter Eggs
An intricate pattern with marble veins can be created using food coloring and scrap materials. To decorate a dozen eggs you will need:
- Husk 10 onions;
- A4 sheet of paper;
- thin mesh, preferably a pair of nylon stockings;
- 10 money rubber bands;
- 2 tbsp. wine vinegar;
- food coloring;
- 1 tbsp. salt;
- vegetable oil;
- 2 liters of drinking water.
The secret of the marble effect is in the preliminary preparation of the eggs:
Cut the onion peel and paper into 1 cm pieces - the final design will depend on the shape. Mix the preparations.
Cut the elastic stocking into 5-7 cm pieces so that you can wrap the egg in the resulting shell.
Before boiling, wash the eggs and leave them damp for stickiness.Dip each one in onion and paper confetti, place in a stocking “bag” and tighten the edges with an elastic band so that the contents do not fall out.
Heat the water, add dye, vinegar and salt, mix thoroughly.
Carefully place the eggs into the liquid, bring to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes over low heat.
When ready, transfer them to a bowl of cold water, carefully cut off the wrapper and rinse off the trimmings.
Blot the eggs with a napkin and brush with oil to set the color.
For coloring, you can take dry or drip dye, diluting it according to the instructions. Choose the hue and intensity of the color to suit your taste. The onion will give natural red inclusions, and the paint will fill in the gaps. Blue, pink, lilac, yellow and green colors will look beautiful.
As a result, the painted eggs will acquire a mosaic pattern with two-color veins and inclusions. The dye will not spoil the product or reduce its shelf life.
