To close the door from the inside, valves of various designs are used. Most of them are not original. If you have a little free time, you can make an unusual, but at the same time simple, trouble-free latch that will last longer than the door itself.

Materials:

  • Profile pipe 50x25 mm;
  • steel strip 20x8 mm;
  • sheet steel 2 mm;
  • roller chain;
  • star;
  • rod 6 mm;
  • pipe 25 mm.

Gate valve manufacturing process

To manufacture the valve body, you will need a section of profile pipe 100 mm long.

For the valve itself, a piece of strip 150 mm long is prepared.

2 plugs for the housing are cut from sheet steel. They need to mark and cut out windows for the bolts.

The latch is applied to the body and moves relative to it into the closed position, as it would be on the door. A mark is placed on it, along which 3 links of the roller chain are welded.

A groove for an asterisk is cut out on the side of the body. Then a valve with a chain is placed in it, and the plugs are welded.

Next, using a bolt, you need to assemble 2 eyes with an asterisk. The connection is made by welding. To ensure that the sprocket rotates freely, you should create a gap using cardboard before welding.

The sprocket is applied to the body so as to mate with the chain hidden inside. After this, the eyes are welded.

Next you need to work on the original five-point handle. Its base is made from a piece of pipe. You need to measure its circumference and divide by 5. The resulting value will be the step of placing the rays. The tube is drilled according to the marks made according to the calculated step. Then 5 beams are cut out of the rod, and one of their edges is sharpened into a cone.

The beams are placed in a tube and welded in the center. The handle is then welded onto the sprocket.

A bracket is bent from the strip into which the valve will fit. It needs to be welded onto an even piece of strip. Also, 2 more poles are welded onto the valve body to secure it to the door.

Now all that remains is to drill the mounting holes and install the latch on the door. This is a very simple, reliable system. It will never close without permission, so it can be used in a house, apartment, garage, etc.
