Almost any problem can be solved in dozens of different ways. And many of them are completely unexpected. Let's look at 6 cool workshop ideas that allow you to do ordinary things in a new way.

1. Reel for extension cord from a canister

To make a coil, you need to get a convenient 5 liter plastic canister. First of all, we measure its width. Then we cut a 50 mm piece from the sewer pipe 3-4 cm longer than the width of the canister.

Two holes are cut in the canister to allow a pipe to pass through it. Next you need to work on the handle. Its lever bends out of the strip. A handle is installed on it. The handle is then screwed onto the pipe plug.

Next, drill holes for the cable in the center of the pipe and the lid of the canister. We run the wire with the socket into the pipe and insert it through the hole into the canister. After this, the cable must be pulled out into the neck and passed through the hole in the cover.

A plug is installed on the wire. Then a handle is placed on the tube. Now, when you rotate it, you can wind the extension cord into a reel.

2.Stand for storing cutting discs for an angle grinder

It is necessary to cut a circle out of plywood, slightly larger than the diameter of the grinder disk. Then we take a piece of sewer pipe 110 mm long, 10-15 cm, and cut it lengthwise.

A plywood disk is drilled in the center and a groove is cut into it slightly wider than the index finger. Then we open the pipe and insert the circle into it. To fix it, self-tapping screws are used, evenly twisted around the circumference.

The device is drilled for wall mounting. You also need to make a transverse slot in it close to the plywood.

Now we screw the stand and fill it with cutting discs. To get one of them, we hook it with our finger from below and pull it out through the slot.

4. Plywood handles for clamping nuts and bolts

To make a clamping handle with a bolt or nut, draw its circumference with a compass on the plywood. Circles can be made close to each other.

Then use a compass to mark the circles into 6 sectors. It is necessary that the marks fall on the contact points of the circles. Next, we drill the workpiece along the marks with a regular drill.

Now we drill out the handles with crowns.

Thus, we get handles with a comfortable grip for the hands. All that remains is to glue the bolt heads or nuts into them.

5. Unusual carpentry method of T-joint

For a T-shaped connection, we make a cut under the joint on one of the parts. Then we insert the second end into it. After that, we fix them and drill the blanks at the joint. We drive dowels into the hole. The result is an incredibly simple yet reliable connection.

6. Installing dowels without glue

A wooden dowel can be fixed in the hole without glue, and immediately obtain a secure fit. You just need to file it lengthwise and insert a wedge into the slot.

Then the dowel is driven into the hole with the wedge facing forward. It will open up inside him, and he will immediately hold on tightly. The method is especially useful if the hole is slightly larger than the dowel, and it simply falls out.
