When selecting tone-on-tone beads, smooth tints of color are obtained, and if different sizes of beads are chosen in bright contrasting colors, the necklace will look like a rainbow. Magatama can be replaced with drop-shaped beads, pendants or even bugles, the main thing is to observe a gradual transition in the sizes of beads or beads and the product should look harmonious and not a “patchwork quilt”.
Used in this work:
1. Small beads (No. 15) - purple rainbow.
2. Medium beads (No. 11) - dark purple.
3. Octagonal beads (cut) - “light” matte silver.
4. Cylindrical beads (cut) - “light” silver.
5.Magatama (drop-shaped beads) - transparent.
6. Matte purple crystal beads and a garnet focal bead.
The work is done with mosaic weaving and consists of 8 crescent elements. The size of the crescent depends on the volume of the neck and is calculated for a specific product. For our necklace, we collect 28 beads on a strong thin thread with small rainbow purple beads and weave 2 rows.
Add 2 more rows of large purple beads
The next stage is adding one row of matte silver “light”, then a row of large purple beads and another row of matte silver.
The final stage is 2 rows of silver “light” and 1 row of magatama. Having finished weaving, we go through the last row in the opposite direction to secure the thread. We do not cut the remaining threads short so that they can be hidden unnoticed in the weave.
We arrange the resulting 8 elements according to the shape of the necklace.
We place beads between the crescents.
We sew the resulting parts of the necklace together, aligning the shape. You can connect and decorate the resulting parts at will, simply by connecting them with a chain of beads or creating curly shapes with protrusions, teeth or even fringe - here you can show your imagination and individual approach. We carefully hide all protruding threads in the weaving. Sew on a lock that matches the shape and color of the necklace. We check that the form is correct and that there are no errors. That's it - the product is ready! Wear it for your health!
Such a necklace can serve as a base for many options; beads, for example, can be replaced with braided cabochons, instead of a focal bead in the center of the necklace, you can make a large insert, or you can connect crescent elements with chains of strung beads.
