Decorating the Christmas tree has always been a traditional New Year's event. What could be more interesting and enjoyable than making Christmas tree toys with your own hands. This master class uses the Wire Wrap technique.
To work you will need the following materials and tools:
  • Copper or aluminum wire, length - 40 cm, thickness - 1.5 mm. In order to get copper or aluminum wire, you can take the wires and strip the insulation from them.
  • Thin wire for beading, thickness – 0.3 mm (sold in craft stores).
  • Beads in green shades.
  • Bright beads (will be used to imitate New Year's balls).
  • Round nose pliers.
  • Wire cutters.
  • Hammer and anvil (instead of an anvil, you can use, for example, a metal dumbbell).

To begin, take a thick wire with round nose pliers by the very tip and bend it to form a loop.

Next, we begin to bend the wire in such a way that it looks like a winding “snake”. In this case, each subsequent turn should be several millimeters longer than the previous one.

Now we continue to bend the wire in the same way. It will be more convenient to bend the wire with pliers, clamping it at the intended bend points. We try to make sure that the distance between the turns is approximately the same.

The design should look like this. At the end of the wire we again make a loop.

This will be the basis for the future “Christmas tree”. Next, we place the base on the anvil and beat off the wire with a hammer at the bend points in the resulting structure.

This process is necessary so that the base of the “herringbone” can lie in one plane and to give elegance to the turns.

After all this, we begin to decorate the base of the decoration. For this purpose you need to take a thin beading wire. You can attach, for example, a star or just a beautiful bead to the top loop. We thread a thin wire through the hole and wind a star or bead to the top loop.

Then we go lower and begin to wrap the thick wire with thin wire, every 3-4 turns, string one green bead at a time and wind it to the thick wire base.
Christmas tree decoration

We reach the end of the turn and string a larger, brighter bead (to imitate Christmas balls) onto a thin wire and in the same way wind it to the base from one turn to another.

Further following this technology, we continue to decorate the base until the very end of the wire.

This is approximately what can happen as a result of the work done.

This “Christmas tree” will be an elegant and original decoration for your New Year tree.
