I suggest you make an unusual heart using the artichoke technique from satin ribbon. Everyone who sees products using this technique for the first time is delighted with the beauty and unusualness of such crafts. And it’s very easy to master, so stock up on materials and let’s get started!
Materials:
• Satin ribbon 2.5 cm wide.
• “Heart” figurine made of polystyrene foam.
• Scissors.
• Office pins.
• Lighter.
• Thin lace or braid, narrow satin ribbon.
• 2 half beads.
For crafts You can use a ribbon of any color; if you wish, you can choose not one, but two or more colors. The size of the foam base doesn't really matter, but it's easier to work with a larger figure. Office pins, which you can’t do without at work, can be bought at a stationery store; this is their exact name, which is written on the box. You should not try to replace them with something else - you will not achieve the desired result, and puffs may appear on the tape.
So, let's get to work and we will start by preparing parts from satin ribbon. We cut the tape into 5 centimeter segments, wrap the upper corners towards the center and singe the workpiece at the junction of the ends and the middle.
On the foam figurine, mark the center, apply the blank so that the corner is directed towards the center and fix the remaining two corners with pins. We attach the second blank, as in the photo, and pin it with pins.
We attach blanks 3 and 4 and secure them with pins.
Next we need to pin 4 blanks, placing them a little differently than before. The corners should also be directed towards the center, only this time we are moving back a little. And glue a half bead in the middle.
We place the next 4 blanks in the same way as in the very first row, only we also retreat a little from the previous row.
According to this principle, alternating the arrangement of the blanks, we lay out the required number of rows. In this case, the heart is small and there are very few rows. When you see that you are reaching the edge, you can deviate a little from the rules. Place the blanks so that they cover the pins from the previous rows, without leaving uncovered areas of foam. If necessary, in the right places you can trim the workpiece itself a little, for example: one or 2 corners, or the entire length of the workpiece. Try not to let the ponytails stick out too much towards the back of the heart. At the top of the heart you will need to pin the piece in 3 places. In general, if you see that the workpiece does not lie nicely, then you can additionally carefully pin it in the right place. Only in this case it is better to hide the extra pins under the ribbon.
When you are done with one side of the heart, do the second side in the same way.
The junction of the two halves of the heart needs to be disguised with something suitable: lace or satin ribbon. Another decor option is medium-sized half beads.
