During the holidays it is always nice to receive original and unusual souvenirs, especially handmade ones. But it’s even nicer to give such souvenirs. After all, creating something beautiful and elegant from available materials is not only interesting: it is incredibly inspiring and gives a feeling of one’s own exclusivity. And the high appreciation of loved ones simply cannot but rejoice, it is this that encourages us to create more and more new masterpieces...
One of such unusual gifts is this cute eight.

It will be a wonderful gift for women of absolutely any age on March 8th. The soft eight will delight its future owner and will certainly cheer her up on this holiday.

So, to complete this job you will need the following:

• a piece of thin foam rubber measuring 15x20 cm (thickness no more than 2 cm);
  
• wide satin ribbons of two colors (primary color - 4 meters, decor – about 1 meter);
  
• thin openwork or wavy braid (also up to 1 meter);
  
• thread and needle;
  
• polymer waterproof glue;
  
• scissors.

First, let's start creating a sketch. On a sheet of paper we draw a three-dimensional number “eight”, and then cut it out.

Then we transfer the outline onto the foam rubber.Trace the template with a ballpoint pen: this way all the lines will be extremely clear.

It is worth cutting out the soft number most carefully, because its sides must remain even. But this does not mean that you should achieve perfectly smooth surfaces. Remember that the tape will still hide minor irregularities.


Next, we evenly wrap the soft silhouette from the inside, laying out the tape symmetrically. Make sure that the base does not shrink or become deformed.


We sew the end of the ribbon in the center, tucking it with the cut edge inward.



After this, we sew a thin ribbon onto the colored base using straight stitches and bring the end of the red decor to the center.


Agree, already at this stage the work looks quite impressive.

And the only decoration we have left is a rose, which we will make from ribbon and simply glue to the base.


We sew the red ribbon with a thin thread and tighten it a little, we also fix the bottom edge so that the flower does not fall apart.


The foliage can be made from ribbon or thick green fabric, but a factory-made piece taken from a bouquet of artificial flowers will be in perfect harmony with this kind of flower.

It also wouldn’t hurt to sew a ribbon on the reverse side to secure the satin base on both sides and prevent it from moving later (the ribbon is not sewn on).
So our eight began to look even more interesting.
