Electric underfloor heating
One of the reasons for the popularity of electric flooring is its ease of installation and further use. Its work is that with the help of a heating element, electricity is converted into thermal energy. In other words, this process can be described as follows: current flows through an electrical insulated cable and at the same time thermal energy is obtained, which contributes to heating. Next, the heat from the heated electrical cable passes into the concrete screed, which acts as a thermal heater for the front floor covering.
When making electric floors, a special heating cable is used. The core of such a cable is made from the following materials: nichrome, brass, galvanized steel. Cable insulation used for electric floors can be made of several types of material: PVC, silicone rubber, cross-linked polyethylene, and fluoroplastic.In such a cable, the insulating layer can be four-layer, three-layer, or two-layer. The advantage of such insulation is the ability to withstand more than one hundred degrees.
To protect the insulation and core during installation, a screen is installed on the internal insulation. It is made of lead, aluminum foil, as well as steel and copper wire. The screen reduces electromagnetic radiation because it acts as a grounding wire. In addition, installation of a heated floor allows you to use a two-core cable, which is easy to install. The electric floor also comes with a thermostat, thanks to which the selected temperature is maintained. Moreover, the electric floor kit includes a sensor, which, when installed with a cable, is poured with concrete, having previously hidden them in a corrugated pipe.
Warm water floor
The most important and distinctive feature of a water floor is hot water, which acts as a coolant. It runs in polymer pipes under the floor itself. This type of floor works by circulating hot water through pipes located under the screed.
Installation of a water heated floor includes work on laying thermal insulation material to minimize heat loss. Before the final stage of floor installation, it is necessary to check for leaks, if any. To do this, pump water into the system and maintain it for several hours at a pressure that is above average. After the system is checked for leaks, it is filled with concrete screed.
