How to cut a hole in a tile with a grinder

To cut a hole in large-diameter ceramic tiles, a ballerina drill is very often used, and even less often a diamond crown and similar methods are used. I want to tell you how to get out of a situation when you don’t have anything like this at hand, except for an angle grinder, of course. But the grinder or angle grinder is still more common than the tool listed earlier. This is a trick that you may need in life.

Cut a round hole in the tile with a grinder

First of all, mark the center of the circle that we will cut, and then the full radius of the circle. And all this needs to be done on both sides.
From the front side:

From the reverse:

Now we take a grinder and make cuts inside the circle, as close as possible to the edges of the circle.

We do this on one plane of the entire circle.

Now rotate the tile 90 degrees.

And we make exactly the same cuts with a grinder.

Pieces in the center will start to break - this is normal.

When you reach the end of the side of the circle, all the partitions will break and you will already have something similar to a circle.

Next, we grind the edges of the circle, carefully passing along them with a grinder disc.

The result is an almost even circle, but with an angle in thickness.

Turn the tile over to the inside.

We also polish the edges.

Then, in order to bring the circle back to normal and remove the sharp corner that has formed, we chop it off with wire cutters. Carefully bite it off along its entire diameter.

For finishing we go through a file.

That's all. A few simple steps and you have a perfect circle in the tile.
Throughout the entire work, do not forget about protective equipment - safety glasses and gloves. When working with an angle grinder, be extremely careful and careful.
Undoubtedly, the method I proposed is noticeably more labor-intensive compared to classical methods, but I just suggest you get out of a difficult situation.

I haven’t suffered from such nonsense for 5 years now, or even anymore! You cut a square and that’s it! Of course, if only in a closed form. And if under a fan or under a ventilation grill, then this is an extra hassle!

You should have tried it with a jigsaw, craftsman! Buy a ballerina, like all normal people do, and don’t screw people over

Jigsaw + diamond file = that's it! You drill holes anywhere with an F10 concrete drill, then with a jigsaw along any perimeter - round, oval, triangular, etc.

There is an old and very simple way to make holes of any shape. You need to drill holes along the contour of the future hole with a small drill for glass and ceramics. After removing the drilled part, the edges are treated with wet sandpaper. AND THAT'S ALL!
