How to unscrew the strainer nut

Often, most people are afraid to unscrew the nut of the oblique strainer. The fact is that such a filter is usually located immediately after the tap on the riser, and this place is very important. Since a mistake made can lead to a flood not only of oneself, but also of the neighbors below. Plus, the line to the filter may be made of plastic pipes, which will fluctuate greatly if the force is applied incorrectly.
In order not to break anything, not to unscrew the filter itself or the riser valve, you need to correctly and competently approach unscrewing this hook.

Unscrew the strainer nut

We close the riser. Open the faucet taps to release the remaining pressure and drain the water. Let's prepare a container, since after unscrewing the water will need to be collected somewhere. It’s a good idea to stock up on rags; anyway, you won’t be able to collect everything into a container.
Let's move on to unscrewing. This must be done with two keys. It is advisable to use adjustable ones, as they will fit very tightly to the surface and will eliminate unnecessary beating and movement of the pipes.

Better yet, use a gas wrench to secure the filter housing. It will help to better keep the filter from turning and swinging.

We rest against ourselves with the keys and pull away from ourselves with an evenly distributed force between the keys. There is no need to be afraid, if you hold the body securely, then nothing bad will happen.
The filter nut has come loose.

Next, take out the mesh and wash it. Rinse under running water, with slight pressure. You can use an unnecessary toothbrush.

After cleaning the mesh, we assemble it: install the mesh in the cap nut and insert it into the filter. But before this, it is recommended to check the condition of the fluoroplastic gasket on the lid. If it is already quite compressed, it needs to be replaced with the same one or for sealing, use plumbing flax, fum tape, or pipe winding.

After assembly, we apply pressure by smoothly turning the riser tap. We wipe everything dry.
And finally, we go through the joints with a paper napkin to make sure that there are no leaks anywhere.

As you can see, there is nothing secret or hidden in this method, just the transfer of human experience.
I would be grateful if you share your solutions in the comments, although I highly doubt that there is an easier or better way.

Cool advice. We just turned off the water, so what are we going to use to wash the mesh with? Shall we go to the neighbors?)

We screw the plug back without the mesh.

You forgot about hot and cold water, but they usually flow from different mains. If there is only one, then as a rule there is enough water in the toilet tank for flushing. )))

There is cold and hot water. Unscrew and wash one by one. Most often you have to clean it with hot water.

In some designs, the filter nut has an eyelet that limits the use of a wrench in cases of poor accessibility: proximity to the wall and other pipes. In this case, I recommend using a socket head or a spanner wrench, in which you should make a slot with a cutting wheel for the interfering eye. Of course, you can saw off this ear in advance, but still a special tool is the best option.

This plug is usually seated by the manufacturer on the sealant, so it’s a problem to unscrew it. We take an ordinary women’s hair dryer, heat it for 10-15 minutes and unscrew it easily, tested

I bought a filter in the store, and before installing it, I decided to unscrew it. I couldn’t unscrew it with an open-end wrench, but with a gas number 3, the same thing. And only the impact of the hammer on the chisel moved the nut. Always check.

All nuts are not standard (Chinese) size. 20,18,15 - you have to buy special keys.If you use an adjustable one, do not rip off the hexagon on the plug. It is useful to have 100% identical filters for spare parts.

It is best to unscrew with a socket wrench or a cap wrench. Many people call it, but this is incorrect, a cap. But not a wrench, although its correct name is an open key.

There is no point in installing a filter with plastic pipes.

Why did it happen? The filter is not for pipes, but for taps, meters, and a drinking water preparation filter.

Why? My father has it and it unscrews perfectly. The main thing is to do everything wisely.

This is how you write with an eyelet - and this is an eyelet for filling, so x.. unscrew it without the knowledge of Vodokanal.

There are no sealing tabs on the filter cover. Its cleaning is provided during operation.

This is where you are wrong - there is also one with an ear. And especially zealous UKashniks can seal it. We must stop))

You'll definitely tear off the pipes. The key on the right does not at all compensate for the torque of the left key; it does not perform any useful function at all.

The right wrench should at least cling to the lower nut of the filter.

You can, without any problems, unscrew the filter nut with a socket wrench with a two-handed lever.

The problem is not to unscrew it, but to unscrew it without breaking the pipes. I have exactly the same problem, but the article will not help, I tried that.I'll try to warm it up with a technical hairdryer.

I thought you would offer something unusual. My filter hasn’t been cleaned for two years, because it’s on plastic pipes, it’s not secured by anything, and it looks like the nut is bitten (although it shouldn’t be biting the colored stuff). I myself figured out how to hold the body with swedges, but I couldn’t unscrew it without a big risk of breaking the pipes and filling them all, because they would break off along with the tap next to the filter, and there was no way to shut off the entire riser. I think I’ll get around to it somehow and either remove the entire filter or try heating it with a technical hair dryer.

It is especially good to use adjustable wrenches, as they will fit very tightly to the surface...
Laughed at this especially. The author also doesn’t know about the vector of forces, apparently.

Moreover, one of these two must be a Zhekovsky plumber! blush He will block the riser, and the responsibility for the flood will be on him.

Any management company is responsible for the integrity of the water supply system ONLY up to the shut-off valve. Everything after it is the responsibility of the apartment owner.
