An easy way to unscrew the nut of an angle grinder

A fairly common problem for those who use an angle grinder is that the cutting disc breaks and the clamping nut is tightly clamped. And the most interesting thing is that it is sometimes almost impossible to unscrew the nut, either with a special angle grinder, or a gas wrench, or anything else. And if you manage to do this, then it takes enormous effort and wasted time. I will show you a simple way to save your time and effort in order to unscrew this angle grinder nut without unnecessary difficulties.

To unscrew the nut, the first step is to break off the remains of the broken cutting disc at the root.

This is a very simple and very fast way.In addition, grinders are safe for bearings, because if the nut does not unscrew, most people immediately take a hammer in their hand and start trying to unscrew the nut by tapping.

What can be done to prevent this from happening again?

In order to avoid this situation again, you can place a plastic, paper or cardboard washer under the nut before clamping the new disk. And in such a case, the nut can always be unscrewed without any problems.

I have been using this method for a long time, but instead of metal I take a piece of the same circle. ATTENTION! The nut gets very hot!!!

your method is correct. but the clamping nuts wear off and then don’t hold the disc

You clamp the rest of the broken disk in a vice and use a wrench so as not to spoil the stopper, or use a gas wrench to unscrew the nut, easily.

There are big and small grinders, the keys to them are accordingly. If you don’t have the strength to unscrew the nut, increase the shoulder or clamp the disc in a vice. The grinder is 2.2 kW and at serious speeds, sharpening a broken disc while holding a piece of iron in your hands has a good chance of being left without fingers.

There are special nuts, for example from Bosch.
Of course it's a little expensive, but sometimes it takes time
matters more. And believe me, after trying it once
such a nut, engage in such perversions
you won't want to. The author has apparently never heard of safety precautions.

I agree with you. holding the piece of iron with your hand and pushing it under the nut is very unsafe. screws the glove and hand onto the shaft.

In our stores they sell nuts with a rotating flange. They do not jam and always unscrew easily.

I haven't had such situations, but it happens to my neighbors quite often. I’ll definitely give you a hint, and let the Magarych bet (just kidding, of course). The method works, it can be seen without testing.

This is no antler fuss. And not safe!!! Simply two keys. Anyone who knows how to use an angle grinder, like this
    will not deal with nonsense.

It’s easier to break off the disc and heat the nut on a piece of wood; it can be easily unscrewed without a key. Just don’t forget about gloves...

It’s easier to turn on your head and before cutting, think about whether the grinder will jam on me

It's a pity, this won't work with metal. I once had a metal disk jammed like this. I sawed off two sides of the nut with a hacksaw, then I managed to unscrew it

When replacing a wheel with a new one, always tighten the nut firmly with a wrench. This will not allow the nut to be tightened due to inertia when the cutting wheel is sharply braked... Thanks for the advice! And my advice will help you!
