This is just a real find for repairmen and DIY enthusiasts. If you have not heard of thermoplastic before, or as it is more accurately called - polymorph, then you will definitely be surprised by all the possibilities that you will have when using this material both in everyday life at home and in your workshop.

A few words about the miracle of plastic itself

Polymorph is a plastic with a low melting point, about 65 degrees Celsius. Initially used only in 3D printers, but due to its excellent properties it has become more widespread.
Let's now see everything in practice.

Thermoplastic use

Take a saucepan or other suitable container. We heat water in it or add ready-made boiling water to it. Pour plastic from the bag in the required quantity.

It becomes plastic. Since plastic has very low heat transfer, you can immediately pick it up and get to work.

Thermoplastic hardens on its own after a few minutes; to speed it up, you can place the product in cold water.

About the prospects for use

After hardening, the plastic is completely ready for use without any heat treatments. It is not inferior in strength to ordinary plastic, and can also be machined - drilling, cutting, etc.
With it you can not only repair broken products, but also create new ones!

Even on Ali it is quite expensive. Dubious pleasure.

A hundred rubles for a bag of plastic is too much for you??? It is cheap! Considering what you can make or repair with it!

Very good material for creative work. It is difficult to use at home, because... the finished product also melts easily at a temperature of 65 degrees. The screw on the hot water tap will not work, and the handle on the knife will melt on a sunny day.

Come on, I made a handle for scissors, an eyelet for glasses, and a handle for a key from this. And it serves and does not know demolition...
65 degrees is a very significant temperature, it still needs to be reached.

It melts at 65. And at what temperature does it begin to lose strength?

Those who have 3D printers have already experimented and know that plastics with melting points of up to 200 degrees can only be used in toys. Because the softening temperature is much lower and objects change shape when exposed to sunlight or somewhere else.
For example, PLA has a melting point of 173-178, and a softening temperature of 50. It’s only good to do something, look, and then print on a more heat-resistant plastic. The most common ABS melting point is 220, softening point is 100.

Unfortunately, there is one pain point. I remember with trembling the era of the beginning of personal entrepreneurship, when tractor tracks trampled cassettes into the ground. And the state could not ensure their supply to the relevant institutions. And now, it’s the same story, someone translates scarce material, and someone needs it for duty. In addition, the problem of shortage of goods is solved simply by raising prices. So think about whether it’s worth wasting so much, in the absence of domestic production of this material. Maybe for now we'll make do with clay for creativity.
