What you need
The work can be done with a mini-tractor; ordinary vehicle traction will suffice. For the chain hoist, you should prepare a cable, metal blocks, rope, belt slings or tugs. The length of the cable and the number of blocks should be selected taking into account the required force to uproot the stump.
Theory
First you need to understand what a chain hoist is. This is a device assembled from fixed and movable blocks, sequentially encircled by a cable. This kinematic scheme allows you to increase the traction force several times; the more blocks, the greater the force. Each block doubles it, but at the same time the length of the cable increases. For example, a stump needs to be moved one meter, this requires a force of approximately 10 tons, but a mini tractor has a thrust of only two tons.It is necessary to connect five blocks, and the length of the cable without taking into account tension is 10 meters.
This example uses an 18 horsepower mini tractor and a 35:1 pulley set. That is, in essence, the traction force of the tractor will be increased by 35 times.
Uprooting process
Throw a ribbon sling of the appropriate length around the hemp, and use a metal link to connect it to the ribbon cable and the first block.
Wrap the rope or metal cable around the roller of the first block, bring it to the second, then again to the first, and so on as many times as each block has elements.
Tie blocks to nearby trees, use ropes or cables. The main condition is that they must be durable and withstand the load. In our case, the chain hoist consists of seven rollers. All elements must be placed approximately in this plane. The last block should be tied taking into account the direction of movement of the tractor.
Start the mini tractor and gradually tighten the cable.
The system takes its place taking into account the height of the blocks, the cable is tensioned. If the final effort is sufficient, the stump will begin to pull out from the ground.
Check the condition of the pulley, if everything is normal, then continue to uproot the stump. If there is no room for the tractor to move, attach another block and change direction.
Disassemble the chain hoist, load the uprooted stump onto a trailer and take it away from the site.
Conclusion
Blocks installed too low will lift up and severely damage the bark of the trees to which they are attached. You can place scraps of boards between the tree and the cable; they will protect it from severe damage.
