12V compressor from refrigerator compressor

Many DIYers have been using refrigerator compressors as air compressors for a long time. They connect them to receivers, inflate car tires, use a spray gun, etc. The only shame is that the compressor motor runs on 220 V mains voltage and cannot be made into a mobile unit. Or is it still possible? Let's try.

We disassemble the compressor housing. To do this, use an angle grinder to cut off the top cover. And remove the contents from the lower bowl.

We release the remaining freon by rotating the motor shaft manually.

Unscrew the four screws securing the stator.

We remove the stator with windings; we will no longer need it. We will not touch the rotor - it will serve as a flywheel.

Let's prepare the base from a rectangular piece of thick chipboard.

We'll paint it with spray paint and decorate the edges with decorative overlays.

It will use a 12 V DC motor for rotation.

We will make fastenings from a sheet of thick steel or find similar ones from those purchased.

Let's attach the compressor to the base with these fasteners.

We will attach the motor opposite the compressor so that the shafts are as much as possible in the same plane opposite each other. We connect them with a piece of watering hose and secure them with clamps.

Let's add a power switch.
Check, connect to a 12 V battery.

The engine rotates the piston compressor shaft without any problems.

Add three strips of heat-insulating material to the bottom using hot glue - these will be anti-vibration feet.

Attach a hose with a nozzle for inflating car wheels to the outlet tube.

Let's check it in action. We inflate any tires, both motorcycle, bicycle and car.

Of course, you can’t expect cosmic returns after replacing the motor. The compressor has significantly lost power, but still copes with its responsibilities entirely, albeit over a longer period of time.

What about lubrication? - Without it, the compressor won’t last long.

As an option - it will do. But the collective farm. I recommend using a piston group from a hammer drill, which is more compact, and a motor from a screwdriver. And the consumption is scanty (about 2A) and presses up to 5 atm.
